Dear All,

It’s time again to provide you with an update of our projects:

Sponsorship of the Dashain festival in the Hopeful Home orphanage:

Laxmi Support is very happy that we have been able to give Hopeful Home’s children something extra’s during the biggest and most important festival of the year. The Dashain festival is celebrated by Nepalese people of all caste. The children could choose their new clothes in the shop, which created some problems for those who found it hard to choose! But eventually all the children were very satisfied. We also bought herbs and a goat on the market for the party meal. Thank you to all sponsors for making this possible! See more on our website:

Providing loan to Keshab Thapa for building new house:

During the earthquake in 2015, the house of Keshab Thapa in the Nuwakot district was severely damaged and no longer habitable. That year Laxmi Support provided tin sheeting for the construction of a temporary accommodation. However two years later, Keshab, together with his wife and two little children, still lives in this tin sheeting ‘home’. Life under tin sheetings means that it is extremely hot during the summer months and bitterly cold in winter months. When Laxmi Support heard that Keshab was looking for someone who could provide a loan for rebuilding his house, Laxmi Support stepped in and provided a 2500 Euro loan without interest. Keshab has purchased materials for this purpose and has started building his house. The foundation has been laid, the walls are built and the roof will be put on in the coming weeks. Meanwhile, Keshab has received the second installment from the government and a third and final installment follows when the house is finished. Keshab will use these installments to repay the loan. Laxmi Support is very pleased that we can help Keshab and his young family to move forward with their lives. More information and photos will follow.

Scoriton Country Show & Sport:

On August 28, Laxmi Support was present in the South English village of Scoriton for the annual Countryshow & Sport. Our market stall was full of new and second-hand items and we sold lots of different things. The total profit was a wonderful amount of £147, all the proceeds went straight to the children of Hopeful Home for sponsoring their Dashain festival.

Our next project is the distribution of stationaries and warm fleece jackets to the children of the Suryamati Primary School in the remote district of Nuwakot. Every donation, big or small, is very welcome for this project. The more donations, the more fleece jackets we can hand out for the cold months (paypal button on or directly on our bank number IBAN: NL 62 INGB 000 253 1574). Your donation will be very much appreciated!
