The earthquake of April 25, 2015, with its epicenter in the Lamjung district and measuring 7.8 on the Richter scale, had disastrous consequences for the Nepalese population. 7,557 people were killed and an estimated 14,123 people were injured.
Hundreds of thousands of people lost their homes with entire villages destroyed across several districts. Centuries-old buildings in the Kathmandu Valley were severely damaged or collapsed. It was the worst natural disaster to hit Nepal since the 1934 earthquake. And it didn’t stop there.

Many aftershocks followed throughout Nepal with a huge aftershock on May 12 with a magnitude of 7.3 on the Richter scale. This time the epicenter was near the Chinese border between Kathmandu and Everest. More than 30 people lost their lives and more than 1,100 people were injured.
