Free Health Camp – 2025

On 22 March 2025 we organised a Free Health Camp in Tarakeshwor Rural Municipality Ward 4 in the district of Nuwakot. Over 260 people received a free health check up and medication. We travelled in three 4×4 jeeps together with 7 doctors, 6 nurses, and 3 pharmacists from Kathmandu. The health camp took place in two classrooms of the Shree Saraswati Secondary School in the village of Newarpani. Special thanks goes out to headmaster Raju Adhikari for opening up the school on Saturday.

All villagers registered their name and age at the registration desk. After registration nurses measured blood pressure and filled in patients details. Everyone was seen by the doctors and medication was prescribed when needed. Volunteers made sure that everything went smoothly and orderly.

We hired a local bus for the day to give people, who live further away or are not being to walk, the opportunity to visit the health camp. The whole team worked flat out and made sure everyone was properly looked after.

In the meantime Juliette and Samantha handed out knitted hats to all children present at the health camp. The hats were made by a long time friend of Samantha’s mum in the Netherlands. It was wonderful to see how happy not only the children but also their parents were with the colourful gifts.

At the end of the day certificates of gratitude were handed out by the Laxmi Support Foundation and speeches were given. Before we returned to Kathmandu we enjoyed a delicious meal of rice, lentils and chicken homecooked by the family of Keshab Thapa.

The Laxmi Support Foundation was given a special gift of gratitude by Tarakeshwor Municipality, Ward 4. This beautifully framed ’token of love’ is for all our sponsors, who either donated directly to our charity or to the GoFundMe page that was set up by Samantha and Juliette specifically to support for this cause. Without their support we could not have carried out this project.

We would like to wholeheartedly thank the medical team for dedicating their time and working so due diligently throughout the afternoon. Also heartfelt gratitude to Hari Bahadur Podel, the president of ward, and Raju Adhikari, headmaster of the school. Very grateful to Keshab Thapa and family for serving lunch to all, and to the volunteers who helped out during the day. Last but not least massive thanks to Ram and Saraswati Thapa for their dedication and support to our work.
