On June 17, 2019, Laxmi Support was invited to attend the re-opening ceremony of the Annapurna Basic School in the village of Budhasing in the Nuwakot district. Early in the morning, Ram and Saraswati traveled to the school by taxi. The ceremony should have been taken place a week earlier, but the road was blocked due to heavy rain and a landslide. It took several days before the road was cleared again.

It was a very hot day and at this time of year many villagers are working hard in the fields. The reception from the school and the village was nevertheless heart-warming. Ram and Saraswati had brought writing materials, a globe and also a Canon printer. Now teachers can print all school papers themselves and there is no longer a need to walk to the local print shop, which takes more than an hour.
Speeches were given by Ram and the headmaster of the school. Ram also read out a letter by Samantha and Alex and translated it to all those present. After all the formalities, the notebooks and pencils were handed out, the globe and the printer were warmly received and the children were able to practice the jumping rope.
Laxmi Support has received a heart-warming ‘Letter of Appreciation’ from the school, which Ram proudly received on behalf of Laxmi Support.

Three classrooms have been plastered on the inside and the school has been completely painted inside and out. The painter has also painted the English and Nepali alphabets on the walls of the classrooms, a map of the Nuwakot district, the months of the year and the days of the week. The painter also painted national symbols on the outside wall. The school looks absolutely beautiful and gives the children extra motivation to go to school follow the lessons.

We would like to thank all our sponsors for this support. Without your help we cannot realize projects like these. Thank you for your confidence in our actions.
