School uniforms for two schools – 2018

The project included the following two schools:
– Annapurna Primary School;
– Raluka Devi Primary School.

Alex and Samantha purchased together with Gopini Wosti, manager of Hopeful Home, lots of meters of blue fabric to make school uniforms for two primary schools in the Nuwakot district. The children of Annapurna Primary School and Raluka Devi Primary School come from the lower caste of society, called Dalits. Unfortunately Alex and Samantha had to return to England and couldn’t oversee the finishing of the project. However, Ram took over and traveled by bus to the Nuwakot district to pass on the fabrics to the local tailors.

The tailors worked hard to finish all shirts, skirts and trousers on time. After a few weeks everything was ready and the teachers from the two schools handed out the new uniforms to the children.

Ram went on a difficult journey to visit the schools and make photo’s of the project. He took a bus after his evening shift to travel to the village up in the hills of Nuwakot. It was a difficult journey as the roads in the hills of Nuwakot were impassable due to the heavy rain. The bus did not go beyond the bridge over the Trisuli river, from where Ram had to continue on foot to his village Newarpani. He didn’t get there until four o’clock at night. The next day Ram walked to the two schools and was able to take many photos of the children in their new uniforms. The children and their parents were very happy with the new clothes. We would like to thank all sponsors for making this project possible.
