The Annapurna Primary School is located in Pokhara, on the edge of the tourist street Lakeside. The school is supported by the government, but the annual budget is not sufficient to carry out certain renovation projects. The school has approximately 25 students and the children come from poor families.
We support this school since 2006 and have successfully executed 13 projects. The projects are various: from renovating the building to construction of the playing field and providing new clothes and school materials for the children We also repaired the school building after the 2015 earthquakes. See below an overview of all projects for this school:

Volunteer work
In 2006, Samantha, founder, taught English and Art at Annapurna Primary School for a few months. The school building was in poor condition: the roof leaked, the walls were not plastered and there were holes in the classroom floors. The water tank for drinking water was broken and the toilet was very small. The playground was full of potholes and located next to a small river that often flooded the play area. A lot has changed since then.
In the same year, we started a major renovation project improving the schoolbuilding inside and out. A new toilet was built and tons of soil was deposited at the back of the school to create a proper playground. We also placed nets with heavy stones along the river to prevent flooding. The following year we installed a new roof. Many projects followed since then, including organising more volunteers to teach at the school. Read more about their experiences here.
