Renovation project – 2016

After the 2015 earthquakes the school building was damaged. Large cracks had appeared in some of the walls. In 2016 Ram traveled to Pokhara to visit the school and to check what kind of support would be needed. There are currently about 25 students and teachers Bina, Tika and Anita are still teaching at the school. As per updated government regulations, the name has been changed to ‘Shree Annapurna Basic School’.

There were some large cracks in the building, caused by the 2015 earthquakes, and clean water in the toilet was no longer available. There were also a few large holes in the floor. We had the cracks repaired and three water taps were installed in the toilet building to improve hygiene standards. A new red carpet has been laid in the classroom of group 1.

The entire school building is painted in a beautiful blue color and we also bought two plastic rocking chairs for the children. Teachers Tika and Anita also helped with the painting job and fortunately everything was completed in time for Ram to see the end result during his second visit to the school.

Ram also brought warm fleece jackets and pants from Kathmandu to hand out to the students. It was great fun to return to this school and to see all the happy children’s faces as Ram handed out the warm clothes. It is nice to know that the school is still doing very well and that the school building has been updated to a good safe level.

Thank you very much to all sponsors for making this help possible. Without your financial support we cannot carry out these kind of necessary projects. We are extremely grateful for all your trust in our charity.
