It has been while since we executed project for the Annapurna Primary School in Pokhara. After successfully completing the winter coat project for three schools in Nuwakot, we thought it would be a good idea to also involve the Annapurna Primary School. The headmaster informed us that they would prefer tracksuits instead of winter coats for the children. And we did just that…and more.
The tracksuits were made in Kathmandu at the same sewing workshop as we used for our previous project. At the beginning of December, Ram and his wife Saraswati traveled to Pokhara by bus. The tracksuits were transported on the roof of the bus. We also handed out backpacks and writing materials, which were purchased in Pokhara.
Ram and Saraswati received a very warm welcome at the school. Wooden benches and a desk were set up outside so that the ceremony could take place in the warm sun. Ram received a huge number of orange flower garlands and various speeches were given. The principal of the school, Mr. Krishna Acharya, gave a speech in English.
All 45 students were delighted with the new school clothes and supplies. On behalf of all the children and teachers of Annapurna Primary School, we would like to thank our sponsors to make this happen.
