The following two schools were included in this project:
– Saraswati Lower Secondary School;
– Raluka Devi Primary School.
On November 9, 2017, we distributed fleece jackets, notebooks and writing materials to the children of the Saraswoti Lower Secondary School and the Raluka Devi Primary School in the hills of the Nuwakot district. It will be cold in Nepal in the coming months and we hope that the fleece jackets will keep the children warm and that it will provide an extra incentive to go to school.
At six in the morning, Ram and Saraswati left Kathmandu by jeep, which we hired for the day. They had many delays due to poor road conditions and arrived at the first school in the village of Newarpani around noon, much later than expected. They received a warm welcome of all the teachers and students. With the help of the teachers, the fleece jackets, notebooks and writing materials were distributed to all 90 children. The children were so happy to receive warm jackets for the winter.
Afterwards Ram and Saraswati drove to the second school in the village of Old Budhasing. The total of 45 students at this primary school come from poor families and belong to the lowest caste of the society. Here too, they received a warm welcome. Around 4pm, Ram and Saraswati traveled back to Kathmandu in the jeep. Large stones had fallen on the road and made the journey long and hard. They arrived in Kathmandu at 1am in the morning. It was a long tiring but wonderful day. We’re very happy to be able to carry out this project with all the help of Ram and Saraswati. Also a big thank you to all our sponsors.
