With the cold months approaching, we thought it would be useful to stock up on school sweaters and hats for the children of the Annapurna Primary School and also for the Shree Surya Jyoti Primary School in Bettyani. We drive to the center of Pokhara in a small white Suzuki taxi and soon we find the same shop where we’ve purchased sweaters before.

Negotiating the price is not possible and to make sure we get a good deal, we visited a few other stores to check their prices. It turned out, the first wholesaler ihad the best price after all. We go ahead with the deal and purchasae 70 pieces and within half an hour two large bags are filled with blue sweaters in various sizes and matching blue hats.

We continue our shopping to the bookstore and look for textbooks to practice writing the English alphabet. Here too, we have two boxes packed for the two schools with school books in two different levels of difficulty and a colouring book with colouring pencils.

The next day at the school we hand out sweaters, hats, notebooks, pencisl and sharpeners to every student. Everyone is trying on the new clothes and smiles are all over their faces. Unfortunately we don’t have the right size for one of the girls, the school sweater turns out to be too small. The look on her face is one of great disappointment and we promise her to bring the right size after the weekend. This reassures her and her big smile returns. It is a successful day, everyone is happy and it gives us a good feeling that the items are so well received.
